Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of abundance, wealth, fortune, purity and prosperity. She is the wife and shaky, or energy, of Vishnu. She also helped Indra, a guardian of Buddhism, protect the world against demons. My husband and his dostos (Bengali for close friends) call me Ma Lakshmi because I am the provider, protector and supporter of my family.
